Design of a small urban courtyard
Jolie Urbaine - 1st prize APPQ limited space

This landscaping project in Montreal perfectly illustrates the potential of small urban yards. Commissioned by a young professional couple, we transformed an unused backyard into a truly functional and inviting outdoor living space.

The project began with the demolition of an existing garage to optimize the available space. The layout was then structured around different zones: a dining area under a pergola, a relaxation area with an integrated spa, and smooth circulation thanks to paving slabs on gravel.

Every element has been designed to maximize the use of the limited space, while creating an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. The choice of materials, particularly wood and structural plantings, helps to soften the dense urban environment.

This project was awarded 1st prize – limited space category at the 44th APPQ landscape design competition in 2023, highlighting the quality of the design and execution.
