RICHARD BÉLISLE

Senior Landscape Architect

Member of the AAPQ and the AAPC,

Richard Bélisle is a seasoned landscape architect recognized for the quality of his work, his rigorous approach and his vision deeply rooted in field expertise.

Before beginning his university studies, he worked for several years as a landscaper, specializing in masonry, carpentry, and planting. This on-site experience now forms one of the cornerstones of his practice: it allows him to anticipate challenges, design feasible projects, and collaborate effectively with contractors.

Richard obtained his bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from the University of Montreal in 1992, the same year he founded his own firm on Montreal's South Shore. Always eager to broaden his vision, he completed internships and study trips in France (Paris, Giverny, Loire Valley), Switzerland, and especially Italy (Florence, Venice, Tuscany, Amalfi Coast, Italian Alps).

He also visited Milan's Bosco Verticale and surrounding urban gardens to closely observe new approaches to vertical greening and sustainable urban development.

A great traveler, he draws some of his inspiration from exploring international landscapes and projects:

  • Spa resorts in Thailand and Vietnam (contemporary design)

  • Urban parks in Santiago, Chile

  • Renovation of brownfield sites in Buenos Aires

  • Public spaces in Barcelona, visited in the company of local architects

Passionate about manual work and nature, Richard carefully maintains his own garden in the Eastern Townships, a veritable laboratory where he experiments with materials, textures and atmospheres.

Although he has worked on institutional and real estate projects, Richard has a particular fondness for residential design, a field where he can fully express his artistic sensitivity, technical mastery and attention to detail.

Elegance, simplicity and quality of execution remain the guiding principles of each of his projects.
